This project aims to define a roadmap for the Turkish automotive industry to maintain its export share while complying with the European Green Deal. The Turkish Automotive Industry Sustainability Action Plan, prepared in collaboration with OIB (Automotive Industry Association), provides a comprehensive roadmap for achieving sustainability goals in both the automotive and supply sectors. The project focuses on the sector's green transformation process, identifying the needs of key stakeholders, and taking concrete steps towards compliance with Green Deal regulations.

The challenge

One of the major challenges in this project is identifying the specific sustainability needs of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and their supply industries in automotive. There is a diversity of requirements and current conditions across the sector, making it difficult to align strategic objectives. In particular, the new regulations and environmental goals introduced by the Green Deal necessitate changes at every stage of the supply chain. Moreover, the varying pace of adaptation to the green transformation among companies of different sizes in the sector presents an additional challenge.

Our solutions

To overcome these challenges, we organized a workshop with the participation of sector representatives. The workshop enabled the mapping of the needs of all stakeholders in the automotive industry and allowed for the identification of sector-specific sustainability goals. Participants shared the problems and solutions they face in various areas of the industry, and customized solutions were developed according to the needs of each stakeholder. This process clarified the concrete steps the sector needs to take to comply with the Green Deal, enhancing collaboration across the industry.

Impacts of project

The impact of this project is the creation of a strategic foundation that enables the Turkish automotive industry to achieve its sustainability goals. The roadmap developed will guide the sector in its efforts to comply with the Green Deal, establishing complementary sustainability strategies for both the automotive industry and its supply chain. The process will foster stronger collaboration among all stakeholders and will help increase the competitiveness of the sector in global markets. As a result, the Turkish automotive industry will take significant steps in achieving environmental targets, positioning itself as a leader in green transformation.
