Türkü Açar

Türkü Açar works as a Sustainability Consultant at Metsims Sustainability Consulting. A graduate of Boğaziçi University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Türkü effectively leverages her engineering background in conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and carbon accounting for complex products and processes. With nearly five years of professional experience, she has specialized in monitoring European Green Deal regulations, as well as in LCA, carbon accounting and corporate sustainability reporting.

Before joining Metsims, she worked in international companies as a regulatory specialist and LCA analyst, leading projects on product durability, reparability, and the environmental impacts of electric vehicles and batteries. During this period, she also conducted internal trainings to enhance compliance and regulatory awareness, informing employees about EU sustainability and carbon-related legislation.

At Metsims, Türkü’s responsibilities include corporate carbon footprint calculation and reporting, managing data collection, analysis, and verification processes for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in line with international standards such as the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064. She also provides strategic consultancy by analyzing the sectoral impacts of key EU regulations such as CBAM, ETS, CSRD, PEF, EUDR and the Digital Product Passport (DPP). In addition, she contributes actively to Responsible projects and delivers sustainability consulting services across various industries.

Currently pursuing her master’s degree in Environmental Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU), Türkü integrates her academic knowledge of sustainability and environmental engineering into her professional projects.
