As Commercial Director, Peter Lee is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring Metsims Sustainability Consulting has the greatest potential impact and maintaining our position as a science and evidence-based consultancy.
His role and experience in working with the public and private sector as well as professional chambers on various issues in the field of circular economy and carbon reduction is quite extensive.
Peter has over 25 years of experience in developing and implementing waste minimisation strategies using lean manufacturing techniques in industrial industry. He has contributed to project management and studies on various topics such as resource efficiency, sustainability, carbon footprint and energy consumption reduction, recycling technologies, logistics and reverse supply chains, packaging and waste management in the food and beverage sector and waste prevention.
Peter’s diverse supply chain optimisation project work demonstrates his expertise in applying lean manufacturing principles in the food and beverage industry. He has written reports on DEFRA’s implementation of lean manufacturing techniques in the food, drink and hospitality sectors and also on European Commission Best Environmental Management Practice in the food and drink sector.
Peter has worked with the lightness of glass packaging, the export of cullet and the economics of glass packaging production. It also advised the European packaging and waste management industries on deposit return schemes.
Peter holds a BSc in Manufacturing Systems and a PhD in the effects of fluids on sliding metal surfaces.
