EU climate and energy legislation is accelerating this transition. The revised Renewable Energy Directive (EU) 2023/2413 sets a binding EU-level renewable-energy target of at least 42.5% by 2030, while the recast Energy Efficiency Directive (EU) 2023/1791 establishes an EU target to reduce final energy consumption by 11.7% relative to 2020 projections.
