Necati Görkem Aydoğan works as a Sustainability Consultant in the Climate Strategy and Impact Management Unit at Metsims.
Aydoğan specialises in Scope 3 emissions, one of the most critical and complex areas of corporate carbon accounting. He provides professional support to companies in conducting value chain gap analyses, establishing data collection and management systems, and performing advanced analyses of large and complex datasets. Through a methodological approach that takes sector-specific considerations into account, he has successfully managed carbon management processes for numerous organisations of different sizes and across various industries.
Drawing on his expertise in regulatory frameworks and international standards, he provides strategic support to companies in determining consolidation approaches, setting Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets, and aligning carbon accounting outputs with internal, financial, and integrated reporting processes.
In the field of carbon neutrality, he works on structuring corporate carbon-neutrality claims, prioritising emission reduction measures, managing residual emissions, and determining appropriate carbon credit strategies. He provides technical support to ensure that carbon-neutrality claims are transparent, verifiable, and aligned with international requirements.
In addition to his climate-related work, Aydoğan is actively involved in water management. He undertakes projects involving water footprint assessments and the development of water efficiency strategies. By analysing companies’ water consumption intensity, he identifies areas for improvement and provides technical support for alignment with blue and green water efficiency approaches. He adopts an integrated impact management approach in which climate and water risks are addressed together. He also continues to work on integrating corporate biodiversity strategies into business operations.
In the field of sustainable finance, he prepares second-party opinions for green and sustainable bond and sukuk financing issued through banks, conducts eligibility assessments, and verifies impact reports. Through this work, he contributes to presenting the environmental impacts of financial instruments in a measurable, traceable, and transparent manner.
As part of the digital sustainability transformation, he serves as Product Owner for the development and continuous improvement of the Carbon Module within the CageSuite Sustainability Platform. In this role, he integrates international standards, user requirements, and data validation principles into the software architecture.
Necati Görkem Aydoğan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and has a good command of English.
